Apple Press Hire

Whistlewood has an Apple press that is available for hire during September and October of each year.

The press is £15 per day to hire (The day of collection and delivery is not included in this price) You can hire for up to 3 days (we would look for delivery back the evening of the 3th day). This ensures that as many families and organisations as possible have a chance to hire the press.

If it is required that a Whistlewood volunteer is needed to facilitate access to the Apple Press then £20 is required for the first day of hire.

We may look for a £50 deposit which is payable here and would be refunded through our shop no later than a week after the press has been returned clean and ready for the next hire.

The kit includes the main press, a scratter (for breaking up the fruit into a pulp) and juice bags.

The press fits into a hatchback or equivalent vehicle. We recommend 2 people from your organisation or family come to collect and deliver it. We are sorry, our volunteers cannot be involved in lifting the press.

Another option is to bring your fruit  to us! This can take place during our volunteering sessions on a Saturday afternoon, – 2 – 4 pm. Someone can be there to show you how the press works and it can save you 2 journeys returning the press!

For 2024: those dates are provisionally 28th September, 12 October and 26 October.

Please note that although it is described as an Apple Press other fruit such as grapes, pears etc can be processed through it.

Please put the dates of hire into the Notes section when completing the payment process so that we can marry up your booking with the payment.

Once we have received payment we will email you to liaise about collection and delivery.

Cancellation Policy

We accept bookings in advance for our Apple press. If for any reason you need to cancel we would refund the Deposit of course. If the cancellation is less than two weeks before the hire then we would refund the deposit  but cannot refund the hire cost. Anything more than two weeks we would refund all the hire costs in full.
