The above prices do not include wood for our Barbeque, Firepit but do for the Wood-burner in the Yurt. This can be ordered with your hire at £7 for a reasonable bundle. Of course you can bring your own wood and use our Barbeque or Firepit as part of your hire. The price includes access to our kitchen for all your catering needs.
A kitchen in a container! With cupboards full of cups, pots and pans, cutlery. In fact everything you would need to cook with. It has a sink too with running cold water. All hire prices include access to our kitchen so that we can assist you in having as eco an event as possible.
Please be aware it has lighting but no plug sockets, oven or fridge!
Cooking is possible at Whistlewood using our Firepit or Barbecue. Our Firepit is the heart of Whistlewood – where music is played and stories told. It is surrounded by wooden seating and can seat 21 people. Further seats can be added to all soak up the campfire spirit!
Simple cooking can be carried out in the Roundhouse as our Log-Burner has a small oven.
The Roundhouse opens out onto a large covered verandah – large enough to seat 12 people so another area to sit with friends or even hold a workshop. With views of our trees it’s a beautiful setting for a small gathering.
If you wanted to hire the verandah for your workshop event the prices are the same as the Shelter so:

Our Willow Dragon was created with children in mind and provides entertainment and space for children to run and play – with storytelling chair, mud-kitchen, Wendy house – there is so much to capture a child’s imagination.
In this part of the woodland many fruit trees have been planted with the sweetest types of apples. During the season we invite children to help themselves to an apple!
We have 3 wonderful composting toilets – 2 with urinals and baby changing facilities. Our largest toilet is wheelchair friendly roomy and has baby changing facilities. Willow soaks up the human waste and loves it! Our newest toilet is in the woodland area near to the Willow Dragon. The others are close to the Camping field. There is, of course, no additional charge for the use of our toilets!
At the front of our Roundhouse there is a large Stage just right for a performance space facing out onto a grass amphitheatre – perfect for outdoor theatre, music and performances. If you would like to enquire about rates for hiring the Stage and Amphitheatre please contact mailto:[email protected]
Our original Oak Tree provides shade and comfort and we have created a magical glade which is tucked away at the bottom of the site. It is used as a Blessing Area for our weddings or could be used for a class such as Yoga or Meditation. Please note there is no cover in this area.
We have a special rate for using our Woodland area. You have access to the Woodland toilet but there is no cover in this area (apart from the trees!). This includes our Oak Tree Glade.

Our fitness trail is suitable for adults and older children. It has five elements in a beautiful woodland setting. It includes an Abs bench, Chin Up and Run and Leap. There are great opportunities to combine the trail with a run from Melbourne or Ticknall. It is easy to access from The Common. We are very close to the Melbourne Sporting Partnership grounds with its fantastic facilities.
There is plenty of parking on site Whistlewood. In the summer our grass car parking area (and all weather area) allows for 83 cars to be parked. Further parking can be provided for larger events.
In the winter we have an all weather area for parking with a capacity of 30 cars.
We have 2 disabled parking spaces too.
If the site is shut and you would like to visit Whistlewood there are 2 parking bays outside our main gate, with a walk-in gate to the site.
Parking is free at Whistlewood or included in the price of your site hire.
