The Rekalibrator

Guide to The Rekalibrator at Whistlewood

Labyrinths have been used in ancient civilisations as a tool to help people understand the World, the Universe, Nature and themselves.

A labyrinth is not a maze, it is just one path on which to walk and contemplate life.

The Rekalibrator was designed so that we can understand permaculture better and how it would benefit us, along with everything around us.

It is a personal thing; the more we put into our walk the more we will get out of it. Take your time and become at ease with yourself.

When you are ready, walk to the first spiral that you are drawn to, this then represents the first ethic and is called …..

Earth Care

This is without doubt, the number one ethic as the Earth is our home.

As you walk into the first spiral, you could contemplate what you do to take care of the earth, until you reach the centre; once you are at the centre and you start the outward path, you could contemplate how the Earth cares for you.

People Care

This is the second ethic. People shape civilisations, countries and organisations, so taking care of and supporting each other makes perfect sense.

As you walk into the spiral, take time to contemplate about all the people in your sphere and how you take care of them.

Once you are in the centre and you start to take the outward path, contemplate how people take care of you.

Fair Share

Fair share is the third ethic. This is often misunderstood, it is about sharing what you have in abundance with the Earth, people and Nature.

If you have too much of something it can be a burden so contemplate sharing it out; whether it be time, knowledge, entertainment, food or material things, without compromising the first two ethics.

As you walk into the third spiral, think about what you share out and could share out. Once you reach the centre and walk the outward spiral, think about what gets shared with you.

The Rekalibrator at Whistlewood

Our Rekalibrator is cut out of grass by our volunteers. It needs maintenance and may, therefore, not be there at certain times of the year.
