Spend a creative morning at Whistlewood crafting your own British wildlife bas-relief sculpture using “alternative stone” (waste aerated concrete). This is your chance to slow down, work with your hands, and create something beautifully personal inspired by our native wildlife.

Choose your carving theme:

Barn Owl   Sleeping Fox

Hedgehog  Robin

Hare

Please let us know your preference to make one of the above animals by indicating in the Order Notes section on the page where you fill in your personal detail – please scroll down.

What to expect

This is a relaxed, supportive three-hour workshop where you’ll learn simple carving techniques using rasps and hand tools to create depth, texture and character. No prior experience is needed — it’s designed especially for complete beginners.

Most people are genuinely surprised by what they achieve. The process is absorbing, satisfying and wonderfully grounding. You’ll leave with a finished piece you’ve made yourself — something solid, meaningful and ready to display indoors or outdoors.

Included in your workshop:

All carving tools

Materials

PPE (dust mask, eye protection, gloves, apron)

A prepared template of your chosen design

Step-by-step guidance throughout

Your finished carving is yours to take home on the day.

Who is it suitable for?

If you’re curious about trying something new, enjoy making things, or simply want a few hours immersed in creativity in a beautiful countryside setting – this workshop is for you.  No experience is needed. Just a willingness to have a go.

Adults with adequate strength and dexterity in hands and wrists.
