Log Burner with Artisan designed Fireguard

Our Roundhouse was built in 2018 and is constructed of straw bales with lime render. Materials were sought as locally as possible.

It has a cosy log burner and can be hired all year round. With beautiful views of our woodland, It is flooded with light from the lantern rooflight and four sets of french windows making for a very different setting for your event. With our off grid facilities you may have to think very resourcefully about your hire but that is part of the challenge (and fun!)

It is a beautiful, off-grid venue for a party, exercise class, workshop, course or even small conference. It’s acted as a pop-up restaurant in the past! The log-burner has a small oven for simple cooking and can be used to warm food and of course water for a brew!

It is fully furnished with tables and chairs and even has a quirky flip chart. It also houses the Whistlewood library of over 200 books on nature, wellbeing, cookery, permaculture and green living.

It’s capacity is:
45 people max. seated theatre style
15 people max. round tables for a workshop or similar event
9-10 for an exercise class with mats
Parties – 40 – 50 people for a buffet
30 people for a sit down meal
It has internal and external lighting powered by our solar panels.

What You Need to be Aware of in Hiring our Roundhouse

Because of our off-grid nature there are no power sockets in the Roundhouse
We have a rainwater collection/filtration system – but it provides cold water suitable for handwashing and washing up only so we recommend bringing drinking water for any events
As part of our planning permission we have an 11 O’clock curfew for amplified music – acoustic after 11 is fine though!
If you are hiring the Roundhouse for a celebratory event you are welcome to decorate it but we ask you not to use plastic decorations or balloons – paper decorations are encouraged though!
We are a leave no trace site with no rubbish collection – any waste that your event produces would need to be taken off site
